October 5: Way Overdue

So it's been awhile. This is the view off our new back porch.

John turns 2 in just a couple of weeks. He's spending a lot of time on his "tricycle" these days:

Last weekend, there was a "gathering of the Irish" in Pittsburg, Kan. The Boyle side of the family drove in from all parts of Missouri and Kansas to enjoy some fried chicken at the famous Chicken Mary's.
John bonding with his great-aunts Deanie (left) and Ruth (right). They both got big hugs and smooches.
John (with the help of Grandpa and is second-cousin Ed) made a big pile of leaves to jump into. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

March 15: Shoes pt. 2

March 15: New Pics

John, Zach and Phil went to the car show yesterday. We had a great time-- lots of pointing to cars and saying "beep beep"-- we didn't even have to change a diaper. But enough about Phil...

Video: Who's Your Daddy?

I used to think that John was my baby. Now I'm pretty sure he's Phil's. Or Josh's. Or Jeff's. Or I guess, maybe mine afterall...

Old video

John was probably 10 months old when this was shot. I've watched this probably 500 times and will watch it 500 more-- ugh this kid is cute.

John's 1st Birthday!

John celebrated his first birthday on October 25th. We were lucky to have just the right amount of company help celebrate: his grandparents, aunt Megan and uncle Matt, his great-great uncle Gene and Gene's friend Willene, his great-aunt Karen and his second cousin Kelly. The only no-shows were aunt Allie and uncle Josh, who were stuck in Chicago and unable to witness the cake massacre.

John got this stacking toy from his grandma and grandpa Kennedy-- it became an instant favorite.
Miranda baked a beautiful pumpkin-shaped cake (made of two mini-bundt cakes atop one another) that she frosted with cream cheese icing. John thought it was too pretty to eat... at first.

John learned to share at an early age.

After cake, we hosed John off and got him dressed again to hang out with the family. He enjoyed getting to know Karen and Kelly...
...and Gene and Willene
The next morning, he borrowed cousin Creag's sunglasses for a quick swing in what remained of the beautiful fall weather.
