10/15/09: John Turns Two

Seems impossible, but John turned two this weekend. He woke up ready to go, and was a fan of an early gift-- his first pair of cowboy boots.

For the last few months, whenever we asked John what he wanted for his birthday, his only answer has been "blue cake." Miranda invested a ton of time in delivering his birthday wish in the form of a Thomas sour cream pound cake with tons of blue icing.

All of John's family and friends were able to help him celebrate-- both sets of grandparents, all of his aunts and uncles, and his great-great uncle Gene.

John's cousin Craig helped John with present opening when John started losing steam. The boys had a great time playing with John's new train set.

October 5: Way Overdue

So it's been awhile. This is the view off our new back porch.

John turns 2 in just a couple of weeks. He's spending a lot of time on his "tricycle" these days:

Last weekend, there was a "gathering of the Irish" in Pittsburg, Kan. The Boyle side of the family drove in from all parts of Missouri and Kansas to enjoy some fried chicken at the famous Chicken Mary's.
John bonding with his great-aunts Deanie (left) and Ruth (right). They both got big hugs and smooches.
John (with the help of Grandpa and is second-cousin Ed) made a big pile of leaves to jump into. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...
